The sound installation They used to sing consists of 3 soundtracks of 2.30 hours each, which contain more silence than sound. The audible moments — bird songs and human voices from all over the world — appear at random, like punctuations in the space, sometimes totally isolated, or responding to each other, or superimposed. The silence evokes the progressive disappearance both of bird species, therefore of songs, and of human languages, therefore of cultures.
