Poster Campaign

Poster Campaign — 2003.

54 bright pink posters with black text.
40 x 60 cm (16 in x 2 ft) each poster.

Installation, Avenue de la Toison d'Or,
Brussels, 21 September 2003.

Created for the NeonNord project, whose purpose was to spark discussions between city residents and prostitutes around North Station in Brussels, Belgium. The posters challenge the clichés people use to talk about prostitution.

There are clichés in every language commonly spoken in Brussels (English, Spanish, French, Flemish, Arab, Turkish, Russian and Albanian) even though the implications may differ. The clichés in English are: The world's oldest profession — Meeting irrepressible male needs — It is a necessary evil — Leaving the wives in peace — Just another job.
